Screw-lock carabiner with leather sleeve
A screw-lock carabiner with a leather sleeve: a rotating nut gives double security and must be turned back to open, a diamond knurl on the nut, and a heat-formed, stitch-bound sleeve that cushions abrasion and improves grip.

- Category
- Outdoor load-bearing and safety connection design
- Material
- Sleeve: black synthetic leather or high-density nylon with a fine grain, edge-reinforced by close stitching — cushions metal-to-gear abrasion and improves grip and hand-feel
- Craft
- Screw-lock mechanism — a rotating nut provides double security; once closed it must be turned back to open, guarding against accidental release. The nut carries a diamond knurl for grip and runs smoothly without catching · sleeve: heat-formed and stitch-bound to follow the curve of the body
- Typical applications
- Typical uses: climbing and mountaineering (rope, harness, belay device) · camping (guy lines, hammocks, lanterns) · everyday carry (keyring, bag attachment, bottle or camera) · quick-release for pet leads
⚠️ Load ratings and certification: the climbing and mountaineering uses listed here describe design intent and typical scenarios. Actual load capacity (breaking strength in kN) and certification (e.g. CE, UIAA, EN 12275) must be confirmed against the product test report — please request it when enquiring. Before using this item for personal protective equipment, check the regulations of your market and verify the test data for the relevant batch.

Structure: what a screw lock actually buys you
What separates a screw lock from a plain spring gate is insurance: once the nut is turned, the gate is mechanically locked and will not pop open when a pack strap, rope or branch drags across it — which is why it is the usual choice for a main connection. Here it is built as a double-security structure: closed means it must be turned back to open, and the diamond knurl on the nut lets you apply force even in gloves, while the action stays smooth and free of catching.
Sleeve: heat-formed and stitch-bound
The sleeve is where hand-feel and durability come from. It is heat-formed to follow the curve of the body and closed with close, even stitching, so it will not work loose or shift in use. The black face has a fine grain that improves grip in the hand and keeps bare metal from rubbing against rope, tent poles or pack fabric. The sleeve is made in our own workshop — synthetic leather or high-density nylon, with colour, embossing and thread colour all open to brand customisation.
Uses, and what to check before ordering
Typical uses span outdoor and everyday: connecting rope, harness or belay device in climbing and mountaineering; guy lines, hammocks and lanterns when camping; a keyring, bag attachment, bottle or camera carrier day to day; a quick-release for pet leads. One caution: once an item is used for personal protection — climbing, work at height — load rating and certification become a hard gate. Tell us the regulatory requirements of your target market before ordering and we will confirm what testing and marking we can supply.
